Maternity holiday Entitlement KA 17/01/2008 11:10

I have an employee that is due to start maternity leave on the 1st May 2008. Her holidays run from May 1st to April 30th. I understand that she will accrue holidays during this time. She will b off for the full year.

She is contracted the statutory amount of 4.8 including bank holidays (24 days). Am I right in thinking that this is due to rise by October 08 to 5.8 weeks? If so her maternity leave spreads across the both. How likely is the rise and how should I work this out?

When should I suggest that she takes it? She is not allowed to carry holidays over.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi KA

Just to update the new statutory holiday increase comes into affect on 1st April 2009 and increases to 5.6 weeks (28 days minimum).  If this was an employee of mine I would work out her holiday entitlement and ask her to take this before she starts her maternity leave.

Regards

Kim
