Business Trip Abroad - employer obligations Nicola 18/02/2008 10:39

 Hi,

I will soon be going on a business trip to Asia. I am the only employee being sent from the UK. This trip was initially for 4 weeks with another 2 weeks at a later date, however because of systems issues my manager is now talking about delaying the trip and sending me for one 6 week long trip. I have heard about companies who pay for spouses to visit during lengthy business trips abroad, and wondered if my employer has any legal obligation to provide some kind of family contact like this for me. I am looking forward to the trip but am very concerned that 6 weeks is a long time for me to be away from my family.

Many thanks for your advice/assistance - it is much appreciated as I cannot find this information anywhere online.
