Director Sick Pay M 27/02/2008 11:21

Hi,

Does anyone have any examples of how they deal with Directors when they are absent due to sickness.

We currently have nothing in place so I was looking for some ideas on whether you pay for sick leave, if so is there any eligibility criteria such as length of service and how much paid leave would they receive, are the arrangements contractual or discretionary, do they have to have a return to work etc.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thank you

Hi M

I'm sorry but what's the problem, if you have a sickness absence policy in th ecompany then it shoudl apply acorss the board including Directors.  If you haven't then I suggest you look at putting one in place walong with absence management.

I agree with you 100%, however we have nothing HR related in place at all, both myself and the HR function are new to the Company and as such there is a whole department to set up which is obviously going to take time, as they say Rome wasn't built in a day.

However the acquisition of a new Company is all hanging on the terms of the Director SLA and one point is what sick pay we will offer the new Director.  The negotiations have come to a halt and I have a few hours to come up with a proposal before we lose the whole deal, so I was simply asking for ideas on how other Companies operate their sick pay schemes.

It is your preogative whether you share any information, however I thought I would give the Networking Forum a try to see if I got any ideas.
