My MD has been talking about introducing flexi-time for over a year now and I think the only thing holding is back is the initial complication of setting it up and getting it right. I cant seem to find a basic guide to how to do this. We have less than 20 staff and are looking to have core hours 10-12 and 2-4.  We have a 7 1/2 hour working day.

Any guidance on where to look would be gratefully received, as well as any experiences you have be they good or bad.

How realistic am I being in thinking we can record this manually on a paper based system? Do I need to go the route of swipe cards or similar?

Hi Helen

I have implemented both processes, but found that if you don't have the financial backing for a swipe card system, using timesheets to log flexi-time is acceptable.  Although this does mean giving your staff autonomy and trust to ensure they don't abuse to system.  This was however, the line manager/supervisors responsibility to manage and agree how they would work this.  I have written a flexible working policy should you wish to have a look at it I would be more than happy to email it to you.  Please contact me via my email address.

Hope this helps, but should you require any further assistance please feel free to contact me.

Kind Regards

K
