Hi All, my dilema is 2-fold; Although I have some good experience, it is both varied [ business development, career coaching, recruitment and Investor in People consultancy] and gained some time ago. How do I go about re- energising my career and re-entering the HR job market? I have looked at doing the CIPD but have been dismayed at the cost and that a work based project is required, at a time when i am not working. I would consider doing a voluntary role to gain the necessary up-to-date experience, but have not found anything suitable on relevant websites. Does anyone have any ideas? All appreciated. thanks, Anna |

Hi Anna Your idea of doing some voluntary work sounds like a good idea - I am a volunteer business mentor for the Prince's Trust, and they offer fantastic training programmes. This has really helped me in my coaching business, both in terms of skills and also in terms of making new contacts. You can also approach Business Link and similar organisations, which offer fully funded support if you are thinking about going into business - even if you think you will go back to being employed, you can still gain useful skills updates and support. Hope this helps. E-mail me if I can help further. Best regards, Liz |
