I work as a middle manager in a retail company. In my contract (38hrs), it states you may be required to work extra for "the needs of the business". At present we are being permanently rota'd for 50 hours a week. As it is not possible, to be sure what will happen in the future, I see this as meaning we are working 50hrs regardless of needs of the business, and we are being told we have no choice. I am not against working extra "when it is required", but I would like to know where I stand from a legal point of view before I challenge being automatically rota'd for these hours. |
