Interview Questions - what can be asked? Elizabeth Lowe 07/04/2008 15:04 liz lowe@ saccs co uk

I have been asked to look into absence levels/stress across the company including what is appropriate to ask at interview regarding past illnesses such as depression / stress etc.  Can anyone advise please; some of the care workers are under a great deal of emotional strain due to the sensitive nature of our work with the children in our care and having a 'duty of care' to our employees, we are looking at endeavouring to recruit those with high defence mechanisms, with the ability to cope with the day to day pressures of the role.  However, I am mindful that we will need to be careful regarding the 'discrimination' issues that may arise.
