Hello Everyone

I'm not able to make headway to get my career going in the direction of Org Development or Change Management. I have the qualifications for it but my skillset needs some work i think.

Does anyone have advice/guidance on finding some kind of mentor programme i can subscribe to so that I can get some help?

all positive advice is much appreciated.

my email is rhyslakay@gmail.com

thank you

Rhys

Hi Rhys

Interesting challenge.. do you have any experience or qualifications in HR? if so using your local branch of the CIPD you can apply for a mentor to help. Failing that look up your local IBC or CIPD branch and talk to a member of the committee - many members of these organisations are keen to help people new to the profession.

You don't say what your current role is... Talk to HR in your organisation they may be able to help with a project or a secondment which can be used to build up skills and experience.

Alternatively contact local charities and offer your time for free in exchange for putting your expertise into practice.

For a commercial option, contact www.profitxchange.co.uk as they can provide mentoring for this type of activity.

Good luck

Thank you for your reply Mike. I'll look into those suggestions you've put forward.

I studied abroad and have an Organisation Psychology/Developement undergrad degree. I have not been assessed here in the UK re the CIPD. Most of my modules are similar to the CIPD you have here in the UK.

I have been working in HR advisory roles so far but need a bigger challenge.

Thank you again for your advice

Rhys

Hi Rhys

From what you say you probably have more qualifications than many in the UK - the challenge is getting your first position or proving experience. It may be worth you having a few people look at your CV to see if you are representing yourself in the best way

Good luck.

Mike
