I am offering somebody a three month contract with clear view to renewal. Where we offer permanent employment our typical probationary period is 6 months and so this temporary contract falls within that period. We do not offer for people to join the pension scheme until the end of their probationary period. I have two questions: 1) is it OK that we do not allow people to join the pension scheme until they have successfully completed a probationary period, or are they entitled to join it immediately by law? 2) is it OK that I do not offer pension rights to this temporary (part-time) employee at all because his employment contract is less than the normal probationary period? Thanks for your help. |
