Please can someone help me... I have a real issue with my employer that now has several streams of issue.

I have just been through phase 1 of a grievance process with my employer due to a restructure and hire of a new person into a role that I thought I occupied.

- Late last year I was took over certain responsibilities and was then "promoted" by my line manager to a certain level during my spring appraisal process. I have this is in email form but it was never communicated to in a formal letter. For reference, I have reported directly into a "Senior Vice President" level executive for the last 3 years. I am a manager level executive in contract, have been referred to as a "director" in corporate presentations and was subseqeuntly promoted to "Vice President"- even receiving business cards.

- I was informed a couple of weeks ago that my reporting line was being changed and that a new hire had been made to the position that myself and my line manager thought I had been promoted into (VP level basically)! Can I argue that this is a demotion on account of the role I thought I was in and that it is an effective demotion as my rank in the organisation has been reduced?

- This role was never advertised and I was told in written form during the grievance process that I was deemed "too young in terms of experience and competence" for the role. The latter point was not supported in any of the evidence from senior management figures (including my previous line manager) that I work with extensively in other divisions. Is this age discrimination as they have't even allowed me the opportunity to apply for the position largely due to my age?

- The outcome of the grievance process is that my head of division "felt I wasn't doing the role I was expected to do" (despite it being the same for the last 5 years and this never being communicated to me previsously) and was going to change/"update" my job description to be an "account manager". This is fundamentally changing my role in my view? Does this give me grounds for constructive dismissal?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated...

Kind regards
