Armed forces awarded pay rise above three per cent

The
Armed Forces are to receive a basic pay increase of 3.2 per cent, it has been
announced.

Defence
Secretary Geoff Hoon said some lower ranks – such as privates, lance corporals
and their equivalents in the other services – will get 3.7 per cent.

The
basic pay award is slightly above inflation. Aircrew, submariners and divers
