Asda to create 3,900 new jobs across UK

Supermarket
giant Asda is set to create 3,900 new jobs across the UK by the end of the
year.

The
chain is undertaking a £360m expansion scheme after receiving planning
permission for seven new branches, the relocation of three existing stores, and
the extension of five sites already in operation.

Asda
said 400 new jobs will be created at new sites in Thurmaston, Leicester, and
Basingstoke, Hants. About 350 new jobs will be created at stores in Harlow in
Essex and Oldbury in the West Midlands.

And
Sutton in Surrey, Crawley, East Sussex and Stevenage, Herts, will see 450 new
posts being created at each store.

The
£25m relocation of a store at Castlepoint in Bournemouth is set to create
another 150 jobs.

Relocations
at Widnes, Cheshire and Edinburgh are set to create 150 new jobs, and in
Halifax, West Yorkshire, relocation will provide 100 new positions.
