Clergy may soon have more in their coffers

Church
of England clergy may soon receive pay rises of up to 20 per cent.

A
report to the General Synod, Generosity and Sacrifice, which has been accepted
for further consideration, would mean an increase in stipend and pensions costs
of £40m a year, reports the Daily Telegraph.

"If
each of the 1 million regular adult attendees in our churches gave 80p extra a
week, the entire cost of these proposals would be met," said the Rev
Richard Turnbull, who presented the report to the General Synod.
