Cost issues raised by offshoring cannot be ignored by UK plc

I agree wholeheartedly with the comments raised in the letter from Paul Good regarding offshored jobs (Personnel Today, 16 January). We all need to take more responsibility for this situation.

We constantly demand better value from service providers while continually expecting costs to be reduced. With employment costs in the UK continuing to rise, it is a simple equation that to work within these constraints, organisations will look to reduce their overheads in any way possible.

While we all complain about the offshoring culture within the UK, how many of us – in both business and personal life – would be willing to meet the additional costs associated with keeping these functions operating within the UK?
