A strike
by baggage handlers was called off yesterday after ground handling services
company Aviance agreed a new pay deal for staff with trade unions.
The Transport
& General Workers and GMB unions accepted a 3.5 per cent pay increase for
this year and a similar amount for next year.
The
strike was set cause massive disruption at 16 locations across the UK,
including Heathrow, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Liverpool.
GMB national
officer for aviation Allan Black said: “We welcome this improved offer. It is
great news for our members, great news for the company and great news for the
travelling public.”
