Sir Digby Jones is to become a partner at professional services firm Deloitte when his tenure as director general of the CBI comes to an end.
He will step down after six-and-a-half years at the helm of the industry lobby group in June and will be replaced by Richard Lambert.
Jones will become chairman of the Deloitte Industries Group, which contains the company’s leading business advisors, and a senior adviser to chief executive John Connolly.
Connolly said that in his role at the CBI Jones had been an important voice for both large and small businesses and would bring innovative ideas and values to the Deloitte’s clients.
Jones said he was pleased to take on a role which would enable him to continue making a strong contribution to the success of UK business.
