Emergency cover hit as ambulance crews ban overtime

Ambulance
workers in the North East have begun industrial action in a dispute over pay.

The
action includes an overtime ban and a refusal to provide emergency cover at
certain events.

The
union Unison says the North East Ambulance Service plans to stop paying staff
during meal breaks, even though they are still on call.

The
employer says the new pay proposals, which come from the Government, are better
for staff.
