Employee plants fake bomb to avoid going to work

An employee planted a fake bomb in the pub where she was
employed so she did not have to go to work, Bournemouth Crown Court heard
yesterday.

Catherine Matchett, from Wareham in Dorset, was sentenced to
160 hours community service and told to pay £1,325 compensation, after the
court heard how she put a cardboard box under a table in the Semaphore Arms at
Blandford camp in Dorset.

Matchett pleaded guilty to placing an article with intent to
make others believe it was an explosive device, which caused 1,000 people to be
evacuated from their homes.
