Guinea pig farm shuts despite staff protection laws

Animal rights extremism, so often seen at the site of Huntingdon Life Sciences, has hit the headlines again after a family breeding guinea pigs for medical research was forced to close its farm in Staffordshire due to a sustained campaign of harassment. The government has defended new legislation designed to protect staff involved in animal testing, but it faces pressure from support groups which say the laws are not being enforced strongly enough.
