Maternity leave is 140 days – 70 days before and 70 days after the birth. Maternity allowance depends on the employee’s salary, but in any case the mandatory maternity allowance cannot exceed 12,480 Rubles (£256) per month. Pregnant women and women with children are also subject to multiple additional guarantees (eg, no probationary period, no overtime, etc).
Notice periods vary depending on the particular reason for termination – from none in case of disciplinary termination to two months’ for termination due to redundancy or if the employer goes bust. An employment relationship may only be terminated for just causes in accordance with the exhaustive list of grounds provided in the Labour Code.
