profitability.

The Internet company claims that no jobs will be lost in the
UK. The company lost £60m last year, despite record sales during the last
quarter of 2000.

“While the strength of consumer spending remains uncertain,
and there are no guarantees, we expect Amazon.com as a whole to be reach
profitability in the fourth quarter of this year,” said Warren Jenson,
