Latest airport strike hits baggage services

The latest strike by baggage handlers at Gatwick airport is taking place today.

Hundreds of workers are staying away for 12 hours in a dispute over workloads and the suspension of a union official.

Members of the Transport & General Workers Union are forming picket lines at the entrance to the airport in the second such strike this week.

Servisair, the firm that employs the workers, insists disruption for passengers will be kept to a minimum after contingency plans were put in place.

Bus drivers who provide services for staff at Heathrow airport will stage a 24-hour strike next Monday in a row over pay.
