A report by research and analysis company Gartner says that learning
management systems (LMS) are critical to the deployment of e-learning and by 2005,
70 per cent of large organisations will have an LMS. It also warns against
making a wrong purchasing decision given the size of the market and evaluates a
number of systems in the report.
Evaluations are based on a range of criteria, including size of customer
base, level of customer satisfaction, length of customer relationship, number
of leading-edge customers, training resource management capabilities, content
provider connectivity and strategic partner relationships.
Among those highly ranked in the research are THINQ and Pathlore. The
report, called 2002 E-learning LMS Magic Quadrant: Who Survives? can be
purchased for $95 from the Gartner site.
