A raft of London employers have been applauded for their work in creating healthy workplaces.
The Healthy Workplace Awards, run by the Greater London Authority, were awarded in December 2012 and are designed to celebrate the achievements of employers that have signed up to the authority’s London Healthy Workplace Charter. The authority calculated that an average London firm of 250 employees loses around £250,000 per year because of ill-health-related absence. A total of 14 organisations across the capital have so far signed up to the charter.
Organisations involved in the pilot included Middlesex University, Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Trust, the Royal Borough of Greenwich and Hostelbookers.com.
