I was pleased to read your news story highlighting bullying in the NHS (Personnel Today, 27 September).
The NHS isn’t alone in facing this issue. We work primarily in the hospitality industry where bullying can also be a hidden issue in the workplace. It can make people’s lives so difficult that they lose motivation or simply leave the job or industry.
In some cases, people use bullying tactics simply because it is a ‘management technique’ they learned themselves when coming up through the ranks. Companies need to identify where the problems arise and focus resources to create positive solutions to this issue.
