MI6 goes online in bid to attract more applicants

The UK’s Secret Intelligence Service (SIS), whose very existence would have been denied just 10 years ago, has launched a multilingual website with career information for anyone wishing to join the spy game.

For security reasons the site is not interactive, but its careers section includes five sub-sections and details opportunities in operational departments, administrative posts and the scientific and technical section.

“SIS is currently recruiting at all grades,” it says. “Gathering secret intelligence to advance Britain’s national interests in a rapidly changing and demanding international environment calls for staff who thrive on challenge and are not afraid to take well-calculated decisions under pressure.”

The site describes the service as having a ‘family atmosphere’. It details career development opportunities, and warns of the extensive security clearance procedures that candidates must pass.
