NHS Agenda for Change receives 8,000 equal pay complaints

More than 8,000 nurses have lodged equal pay complaints as a result of the new NHS Agenda for Change pay system.

Health service unions have joined together to set up a dedicated legal team to deal with the complaints, expected to eventually total more than 10,000.

The Agenda for Change deal aimed to provide equal pay for work of equal value for all NHS staff. The Department of Health said last week that 96% of all staff have now been assimilated.

The Royal College of Nursing said it hoped to use these cases to create a negotiated settlement, which nurses could then use to claim back pay from the government, reports Nursing Times.
