No rest for new mums back in the workplace

Working mothers are becoming increasingly depressed and exhausted in the struggle to hold down a job and raise a baby.

A poll of 2,000 parents in Mother & Baby magazine’s Sleep Survey 2005 showed that new mothers are getting three-and-a-half hours of sleep.

Almost 40% say they are spiralling into depression, according to the survey.

Three-quarters of women say sleep deprivation has affected their work, but half claim their boss does not understand.
