NY job losses spiral following 11 September

Unemployment has spiralled in New York with more than 75,000
job losses due to the terrorist attack.

Tourist numbers are down by 40 per cent and experts are predicting
it could take nine months for the city’s economy to recover.

“The impact is going to take years to overcome and the city
will be buffeted by recession,” explained David Weinstein, Columbia University’s
economics professor.

Business leaders are also concerned that many businesses
will relocate due to security concerns, claim reports in the national press.
