Ocado, the internet grocer, is to create 2,200 new jobs by developing a new distribution centre.
The online retailer – which sells Waitrose goods – has yet to settle the location of the new centre, but has shortlisted five possible sites, three in the West Midlands and two in the south of England. A final decision will be made next month.
The posts to be created in the £100m centre will be mainly lower-skilled positions, the Guardian reported.
It is expected to take two years to complete the new warehouse.
