Positive records on remuneration can boost reputations

Employers need a positive record on equal pay if they want to manage their
corporate reputation, warn investors.

Nick Robins, head of socially responsible investment research at Henderson
Global Investors, said investors are beginning to demand improved management of
human capital – and this includes calls for companies to pay men and women
equally.

"Investors realise that good corporate responsibility is good risk
management," he said.

Robins told delegates that investors now understand that good people
management leads to better productivity, recruitment and retention, less
litigation, and an improved rep-utation.

He believes investors will demand greater transparency in company reports
and pay audits as they wish to protect their investments.
