Retail pay rates are stacking up nicely

Salary
increases in retailing averaged 3.1 per cent in the year to 2002.

A
study by Mercer’s sector survey of pay, benefits and human resource policies
shows that average rises ranged from 3.5 per cent for board managers to 3.1 per
cent for staff at senior management, management and professional levels.

Administrative
and store staff received increases of 3.3 per cent and 3.4 per cent
respectively.

For
the year to July 2003, respondents anticipate an average increase of 2.9 per
