Rolls-Royce to axe 1,100 jobs

Rolls-Royce
is to cut around 1,100 jobs at three plants.

Restructuring
at the manufacturing plants in Bristol, Derby and Hucknall, near Nottingham,
will see job losses take place over next year and into 2005.

The
company claims the cuts are necessary as the company replaces old buildings
with modern manufacturing facilities.

A
statement from Rolls-Royce said: "We are constantly looking at ways to
improve the operational efficiency of all our businesses and sites. This is
particularly important given the current difficult trading conditions."
