Sporting events bring out the laziness in British staff

One in five of the workforce admit they have thrown a sickie during a major sporting
event, according to a new survey.

The Business Software
Centre survey shows men to be the worst culprits, with a quarter absconding
from work to watch a game, almost twice that of women.

Southerners have the poorest
record of non-attendance, with one in five failing to turn up to work. Twelve
per cent of respondents also confessed to taking time off to enjoy a hot, sunny
day.
