A whistle-blowing policy for employees at Stafford Borough Council has been approved by the council cabinet.
The policy outlines how staff and council members can raise concerns over the conduct of any council employee. It also covers members of the public, who can now lodge complaints against employees, councillors or contractors working for the council.
Councillor Mike Heenan said: “It is important that if staff feel they have a problem, they can talk to someone about it.”
The document states that any ‘improper conduct’ or behaviour that ‘falls below established standards of practice’ can be reported.
Any members of the public or employee can also report any behaviour that makes them feel ‘uncomfortable’.
