Around
35,000 Ministry of Defence workers could face privatisation, unions claim.
A
month ago, unions revealed government plans to privatise 20,000 jobs, but
during subsequent exchanges with the Ministry of Defence, the MoD admitted that
35,000 jobs are now under scrutiny for privatisation.
Unions
including the T&G, GMB, Amicus, PCS, Prospect and UCATT, have described the
plans as
"daft,
damaging and demoralising", and say they will fight any move.
T&G
national organiser, Jack Dromey, chairman of the Defence Unions, said today:
"The
MoD has become the arch-privatiser in government. No-one in the MoD is now
safe. Nothing is sacred and the workforce feels bitter and betrayed."
