Trainees go back to school to learn people skills

Supermarket retailer Budgens is sending all its management trainees into
schools to help them build people and communication skills.

The group has added a creative element to its Retail Management Training
Programme, designed to increase the skillset of its fast-track candidates.

Staff on the latest course have built a sensory garden and creative play
area for pupils at a Derbyshire school, and have founded strong links with the
local community.

Julianne Osborne, HR manager at the firm, said the initiative has given
trainees the opportunity to get out of the stores and develop leadership,
teamwork and creative skills.
