Two hours to impress boss

A
third of staff appraisals take two hours to complete, according to research.

The
survey by IRS Employment Review of 100 of the country’s largest companies,
employing 800,000 staff, finds that three out of 10 appraisals take between 90
minutes and two hours while a similar percentage take up to an hour.

More
than one-fifth of employers take between an hour and 90 minutes to complete
appraisals, with 5 per cent taking under half-an-hour and 2 per cent more than
two hours.

Seven
out of 10 organisations appraise staff on an annual basis, although many
appraise new employees or those that are under performing more frequently.

All
companies put line managers through training courses on carrying out
appraisals.  www.irsemploymentreview.com
