The
T & G union is calling for the rights of bar staff to be protected if the
Government introduces 24-hour opening.
The
union, representing bar staff, wants proper protection for bar staff’s working
conditions.
Brian
Revell, national organiser at the T & G said, “We have put a three point
plan to the Home Office reflecting the concerns of our many members who work in
pubs.”
One
of the union’s demands is that employers must ensure that members of staff
released from work late at night have a safe means of returning home, with the
employer bearing the cost of taxis as required.
Revell
reiterated, “The T & G does not oppose 24-hour opening but is very clear
that the rights of bar staff must be fully taken into account.”
