It’s the news you’ve all been waiting for. Who won Personnel Today’s battle of the sexes in the Osborne Clarke Business Challenge at the Asics Reading Half Marathon on Sunday?
Well, Yours Truly can reveal that the bragging rights go to… the boys!
Their ‘This Time it’s Personnel’ team crossed the line in two hours and two minutes, beating the girls’ team ‘HR Cheetahs’ by 21 minutes (though both teams have asked Guru to point out that it took them at least 10 minutes to cross the start line as the marshals got 14,000 runners under way).
What neither team is quite so keen to point out is that they were both beaten by a man dressed up as Scooby Doo (although the boys did manage to overtake the pantomime camel to salvage some semblance of pride).
The boys haven’t yet decided what the girls’ forfeit should be. Guru has some ideas, but needs to consult an employment lawyer first to see whether they breach sexual harassment legislation.
Thanks again to all the teams’ corporate sponsors: Orion Partners, Vets Now, Osborne Clarke, Piazzamore, Proactive HR, TCS, Nordic Staff and Reed Business Information. As a result of their support, and that of many individual sponsors, Guru reached his £1,000 fundraising target for The Children’s Trust.
