Word of mouth recommendation is only used by a small minority of organisations when it comes to finding trainers, according to research by freelance trainers’ organisation TrainerBase (TB).
Chief executive Peter Mayes said TB’s market research involved speaking to 800 organisations during the past year about various training issues, including how they find suppliers. Half of them provided information.
More than 50% of the 400 who gave procurement information said they regularly use trainers or suppliers of training that are known to them. Only 12% said they used word of mouth as a way of finding new trainers.
Mayes said the research also confirmed “the fact that the internet is a popular channel for purchasers of training to find new suppliers, with 30% of respondents using it”.
