I'd love to know more about your methods though - could you give some example of how you are scoring the candidates? Are you giving fairly subjective scores out of 10 or is it more scientific.

Whichever, I tend to agree, although I believe Kate has the edge over Yasmina.

Don't mind him staying in for entertainment value though... and look forward to more classic comments like how he can taste his own success in his spit!

From a capability point of view, Rocky obviously fell down in a big way in this task. One where he clearly should have been in his comfort zone - he owns a sandwich chain for god's sake! But Sir Alan should have given him another chance and assessed his future potential, as you say. I think Rocky had more potential than many of the other candidates - not much ‘talent’ to compare with though. He was at least self-aware and convinced me that he had a genuine willingness to learn from his mistakes.

As for Yasmina, her focus on profit alone won't get her far. She may have got the task done efficiently but ever heard of customer satisfaction?!

When are we going to hear from our very own HR consultant Paula then? Apart from a few grumbles about the state of the food she was preparing she's given us nothing to rate her against...

Remember that Sir Alan isn't really getting rid of the people who performed worst on the task; he's rejecting the person who shows least promise. Of the three in the boardroom, Anita was the weakest, she failed to stand up for herself. Why did she not mention that three others were deciding what to buy? Mona is risky (and rude!!!) but has a spark, Debra (you're right) is not a great team player but remember that at this stage teamplaying is not always the best asset.

Great to see a vaguely sensible blog around a programme that I worry is going the way of Big Brother. Can Sir Alan really carry on doing thi smuch longer without erasing the final smidgen of his credibility?

J1
