Hi

I am hoping someone can help? and can understand my waffle!

We have a department who work;  4 on 4 off rotation days and nights this is a12 hour shift.

Our maternity/paterntiy policy is enhanced to 18 weeks full pay/2 weeks full pay.

How would I work out someones entitlement for the 18 weeks,  Should I count 18 weeks and then count how many shifts follow in that period OR prorata the 40.25 hrs they get paid against our standard 37.5hrs per week.  The dept actually work 46hrs per week.  In two years since we introduced this I have 4 in the last week to try and work out, and I am going round in circles.

Equally our sick policy is 12 weeks and I want to apply the same 'rules'

Thank you

D

Are the contracts annualised?  If so then pro rata them if not then I suggest paying the actual shifts in the 18 week period if that's the way it would be paid if they remained at work.
