hello,

My daughter has been informed that she has been successful in her application for a post at that fabulous snacking outlet, Subway. They require her to attend 3 days training before she 'starts' the job, for which they will not be paying her. I have yet to see a contract of employment or offer letter. I personally would pay a new recruit for training days when starting a new job, however, my daughter doesn't want to 'cause a fuss' and then lose the job. I obviously will support her in her choice (and not because I may benefit from any potential discount or family induced perks on the rare occasions I can drag myself away from my desk to find food). I'm just wondering what the legal position is on this.

Any thoughts?

John
