Hi,

I'm hoping you can clarify some points for me.

I am 28wks pregnant, due to finish work for maternity leave on the 5th of November 2010.

Whilst i am not in a consultation period, there has recently been some "Restructure" announcements, and unfortunatley some people are being made redundant.

Do to the nature of my job, i generally see information i maybe shouldn't.  Today during a meeting, i saw they intend on having a second phase of redundancy - which includes 3 heads in my department.  One head being at my level.

I'm obviously concerned now, as to how safe my job!! I only have 9 1/2 wks of work left and they still havent started recruiting my cover - so this to me makes me wonder if i'm "The" one head they plan to get rid of.

So, a few questions:

1.  Where do i stand in terms of Maternity pay if i am put into consultation between now and Maternity Leave start date? (I have worked there a full year as at June 2010)

2. Can they put me into consultation whilst i am on maternity leave?  I've read mixed things on this, and i KNOW my job is not one they can get rid of as it really is a required role - the only thing they can do i consolidate my job with someone elses.

3. If they do not get Maternity Cover for me and use someone internal to do my job, where do i stand in terms of me coming back to work when my maternity leave is over (i only plan on taking 6months, so will be back May 11)? Do i HAVE to go back to my original job? or could i return for them to then make me redundant?

Sorry - lots of questions, but i'm thinking of every possiblity at the moment.

I do have Income Protection and have had this in place for some time, but not sure how useful that is to me bearing in mind having a baby etc.
