My client, a public sector organisation, is seeking an experienced HR generalist to provide support during an exciting period of change to their challenging HR function. It is envisaged that this role may span until the end of March 2009. Reporting into the HR Advisor and based in North Yorkshire. This is a great role for an immediately available HR Officer or HR Advisor with an operational focus and trade union experience.
The role is a fully generalist role covering high volume case loads and has a strong Employee Relations focus. Key duties of the role include:
*Providing effective advice and guidance to line managers and key players in the organisation on HR management issues including, policy and procedure and best practice.
*Liaising with Trade Unions and staff in terms of current changes, to employees' terms and conditions.
*Ensuring that new staff and management are compliant with new HR policy and procedures.
*Recruitment and Selection
*Maintaining and updating personnel records and HR systems information and monitoring and reviewing staff performance where appropriate.
*Supporting with ad-hoc project work as required and providing input and ideas in terms of HR strategy with a view to continuous improvement.
To be considered for this role you must:
*Be Immediately Available
*Have experience in operational HR generalist duties including: Employee relations and advising on policy, procedure and best practice methods in an oftentimes challenging environment.
*Be CPP, CIPD qualified (or equivalent) or working towards this.
*Have a good knowledge of employment law and it's use in a practical context.
*Have a high level of negotiating skills gained within a HR environment ideally with Union exposure.
*Be adept at influencing, persuading and challenging when dealing with managers, staff and trade unions.
*Have excellent communication skills on both a written a verbal medium.
*Posses strong IT skills (particularly Excel) and have experience of using HR systems and processes as manipulation of data will form a key part of this role.
*Have the ability to manage heavy workloads and to multi-task and effectively manage conflicting priorities.
