Hays HR are proud to be working with this public sector organisation on the recruitment of a Equality and Diversity Officer on an interim basis until March 09 with the possibility of going permanent for the right candidate.
Key responsibilities:
To contribute to the development, implementation and review of the units work on Equality and Diversity and to contribute to ensuring compliance with various standards and codes of practice to embed best practice. 
 
Responsible for delivery of a range of allocated projects which contribute to mainstreaming of equalities and diversity within the organisation. 
 
Prepare and present regular progress reports to the Management Team and Divisional Teams as and when required.
Key skills and qualities required:

- Demonstrable knowledge of relevant standards and legislation
- Aware of impact of equalities and diversity on all stakeholders
- Motivates others to engage in the change agenda
- Aware of the diverse needs of stakeholder groups
- Aware of operational and business requirements of the organisation within an Equality and Diversity remit
- Ability to translate Policy and strategy into action/positive outcomes
- Communicates clearly and precisely both in verbal and written format
- Presents complex ideas in a readily comprehensible way
- Prioritise and manages a varied workload
- Use of Microsoft Office package
- Produces high quality work whilst under pressure
- Maintains impetus during competing constraints
- Ensures tasks are allocated and monitored, projects delivered on time
- Produces work acceptable to a wide variety of stakeholders
