Hays are currently recruiting for this leading service organisation based in Hull. Having been created due to an internal promotion, this role is a great opportunity to progress your HR career. A generalist position, you will have responsibility for providing a full HR service to the managers and staff on the Hull site. With a shared service team based in another location, this role acts as a partner to the business, providing proactive advice and training on key HR issues.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide guidance and advice to Line Managers on a range of issues including grievances, discipline, sickness absence, welfare, performance, terms & conditions of employment and legislation
- Advise line management on the most appropriate resourcing strategy, determining recruitment, methodology, budget, timetable and responsibilities
- Support in the design and delivery of HR Workshops and other interventions for Line Managers on the skills required to manage HR issues
- Undertake evaluation of job profiles utilising the Hay Evaluation System
- Provide guidance and advice to staff on a range of issues including welfare, maternity and leave
- Produce and analyse management information on key people metrics
- Provide professional advice and support to Line Managers in relation to Performance Management
- Establish and maintain close working arrangements with HR Service Centre colleagues and Unions
- Play an active involvement in local reorganisation initiatives in support of business process and change management
- Support the People Development and Management Development Managers with the succession planning process
- Work with local training team to ensure appropriate training and evaluation is in place to enhance capability of management population
The ideal candidate for this role will be a Human Resources Generalist with a good educational background, ideally working towards CIPD or CIPD qualified to Graduate level with a sound understanding of employment law and best practice. You will have worked in larger organisations and had previous experience of managing HR issues in a unionised environment. You must have excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills and the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts.
