Our client is an established public sector organisation who is looking for an experienced HR Consultant to join their team on an interim basis. They are based in Surrey.

As HR Consultant you will lead and deliver projects allocated by HR Practice, which may be linked to any one of a number of HR activities such as direct service support, Resourcing, Reward and Recognition, Organisational Development and Employment Practice.
You will provide authoritative advice, consultancy and commissioning to Directorates on a wide range of more complex issues.

Key Responsibilities:

* To lead, deliver on and contribute to a variety of HR projects allocated by HR Practice, some of which may be complex in nature, on time and within budget
* To deliver against qualitative and quantitative measures in Service Level Agreements with Directorates.
* To analyse and interpret policies and procedures in order to influence the actions of line managers across the organisation and to assist them in meeting legal, procedural and workforce development requirements, including through the Duty Desk.
* To devise and implement tailored solutions to complex issues, in line with policies and procedures, to enable line managers to make informed and timely decisions on staffing matters
* To work with operational managers within Directorates and the HR team to ensure that operational HR issues are identified and inform the development of HR strategies to support e.g. direct service support, Resourcing, Reward and Recognition, Organisational Development and Employment Practice.
* To assist the Senior HR Consultant / Business Partner in the development of less experienced HR professionals through the sharing of knowledge and experience
* To maintain a thorough knowledge of HR policies and procedures, employment law and relevant case law in order to understand current requirements and best practice
* To develop and review (or contribute to the development and review of) policies and procedures to ensure that they reflect best practice, to monitor outcomes, to ensure that such policies are implemented consistently and effectively.
* To champion the HR function and develop a broad range of skills across HR in order to deliver a modern, flexible and effective service.
* Through personal example to promote the values and behaviours (including equalities) that underpin the organisational strategy of the organisation.

Skills and knowledge:

* Experienced generalist who has strong public sector or not for profit experience is essential
* Engage in performance reviews and develop personal resources to achieve performance objectives.
* To engage with staff to implement and monitor change initiatives and innovation to ensure service improvements are achieved.
