Job Summary
A Human Resource Generalist is required to work for a large investment bank based in Canary Wharf. The team assists business mangers both with long-term strategic planning and, in the shorter term, with recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compensation and promotion strategies. The team are the first point of call in Human Resources for employees with issues relating to their employment with the Firm.

The purpose of this role is to provide generalist support to the Finance Division in Europe. You will have primary responsibility for Tax and Treasury and will also help support the Financial Control Group. The approximate numbers are:

*Financial Control Group (approx 850)
*Tax (approx 35)
*Treasury (approx 20)

Person Spec
Primary responsibilities:

Resourcing
* Liaising with the Finance Recruitment team or hiring manager from the business unit
* Working with management and liaising with the Compensation team to establish appropriate compensation levels and packages
* Participating in the recruitment of the non officer population, including interviewing and assisting at assessment centres
* Conducting exit interviews for non-officers, analysing the feedback, drawing inferences and deductions from data evidence
* Working with management to identify appropriate resource levels and carrying out Reductions in Force (RIFs) where necessary
* Ensuring timely and accurate administration of personnel transactions i.e. hires, transfers, terminations etc.

Employee Relations
* Working with the business to interpret and apply company policies and procedures
* Advising and coaching managers through employee relations situations
* Conducting disciplinaries and grievances, as necessary
* Ensuring active management of performance issues
* Working with managers to ensure positive employee relations and adherence to Firm diversity and equal opportunities policies
* Ensuring a consistent approach and compliance with current legislation
* Liaising with in-house Legal advisors where necessary
* Facilitating appropriate training for line managers
* Providing guidance and assistance to employees in relation to career development and/or transfers, when appropriate

Performance Evaluation
* Monitoring the appraisal process to ensure timely and effective communication
* Reviewing performance feedback reports and Evaluation & Development summaries
* Ensuring that E&D summaries accurately reflect feedback reports and advising managers on appropriate wording where necessary
* Working with the Learning and Development team to ensure appropriate training is delivered to employees

Reward and Compensation
* Advising line managers on appropriate compensation levels for all employees from the hiring stage onwards
* Ensuring general understanding by managers of the Firm's compensation philosophy and practices
* Working with the regional HR teams throughout the year-end compensation process for Europe
* Assisting with the year-end compensation process for the Finance Division
* Working with management throughout the Finance non-officer Promotion process to ensure a consistent approach is taken

Other
* Maternity - conducting maternity interviews and responding to maternity-related queries
* Flexible Working - responding to requests for Flexible Working Arrangements, working with managers to find solutions and conducting appropriate meetings
* Managing sickness absence - working with managers to monitor and manage Short- and Long-Term Disability, liaising with the Benefits team and making referrals to the Occupational Health team or Permanent Health Insurance providers, as appropriate
* Participating in special projects, as appropriate
* Working closely with the Data Manager and Administrator, giving guidance as necessary
